Material identity

“Picasso Jasper” is a decorative trade name. Jasper generally means an opaque, fine-grained silica material, but the commercial name alone does not establish that composition. Contrasting lines, veins and colour fields are visual characteristics; a pattern resembling marble is not a mineralogical test for marble. Until a supplier’s disclosure or examination identifies the material, its composition and geological origin remain unconfirmed. [1]
