Golden Tiger’s Eye · Disiplinadong Tapang
Scientific identity, documented history, and community contexts are presented with sources. TÁWID’s contemporary design interpretation is identified separately.
Material identity
Golden tiger’s eye is a chatoyant quartz material selected for golden-brown colour and a moving band of reflected light. Chatoyancy depends on aligned internal features, the curve of the polished surface and the relative positions of the viewer and light. The cutter’s orientation can therefore strongly influence the final effect. “Golden” describes appearance and is not evidence that the material contains precious gold. [1] [2]
Documented historical context
The material’s geological explanation has developed through microscopy. GIA’s 2010 study of pietersite discussed earlier research into South African tiger’s eye and the proposal that quartz and crocidolite grew together during repeated opening and sealing of fractures. That proposal challenged the familiar account in which quartz simply replaced older fibres while retaining their shape. [3]
TÁWID’s contemporary interpretation
Disiplinadong Tapang is TÁWID’s contemporary reflection on courage directed by patience and self-control.
Material note
Evaluate the effect in ordinary directional light and describe it as reflected light. The name is useful for choosing colour and appearance; it should not substitute for a documented source or treatment description.
