Tiffany Jasper is a catalogue or trade name, not a recognized mineral species. The documented material usually called Tiffany stone is a mixed ornamental rock associated with the Spor Mountain area of Utah. A specimen record from the Fluorescent Mineral Society describes opalized fluorite with chalcedony, manganese oxide and bertrandite. That composition is different from a simple classification as jasper. [1]

Documented Tiffany stone belongs to a history of modern mining and lapidary work. The Fluorescent Mineral Society links its documented Utah specimen to the Brush Wellman beryllium mine and describes the purple, lavender and cream material being cut into beads and cabochons. The Utah Geological Survey identifies Spor Mountain as an important industrial beryllium source.
