UNAKITE

UNAKITE

“Paglago nang Buo”
(Growing Whole)

International Context

Unakite is a distinctive metamorphic rock composed primarily of green epidote, pink orthoclase feldspar, and quartz. Its natural mixture of earthy green and soft pink gives every piece a unique mottled appearance.

Named after the Unaka Mountains of the southeastern United States, where it was first described, unakite is widely used for beads, cabochons, carvings, and other ornamental pieces.

In contemporary cultural symbolism, its contrasting yet naturally united colors have led unakite to become associated with balance, emotional healing, patience, renewal, and gradual personal growth. Rather than representing sudden transformation, its symbolism often centers on becoming stronger while integrating one’s past experiences.

These meanings reflect cultural and interpretive traditions rather than scientifically demonstrated properties.

Tawid Alignment

In Tawid – Wear the Mountains, unakite represents growth that does not require leaving pieces of ourselves behind.

Its pink and green minerals do not disappear into one another. They remain distinct, yet together they form a single stone.

So it is with inheritance.

We carry memories, lessons, difficulties, relationships, and traditions—some we preserve, some we reshape, and some we learn to understand differently.

Unakite in Tawid honors growth without erasure, acceptance of one’s history, balance between change and continuity, and becoming whole through what we choose to carry forward.

For Tawid, unakite is:

Paglago nang Buo

To grow without losing the pieces that made you.

Blessing for the Wearer

May you grow without rejecting
the person you once were.

May you keep what gives you strength,
release what no longer needs to be carried,
and make peace with the layers
that brought you here.

May every season of becoming
bring you closer—not to perfection,
but to wholeness.
